Jute Box

These little jute boxes sat on each table and didn't I think I was big stuff sitting in Becky's Chili Bowl and playing the most popular song; "Tequila".

There is a place in Ashland City that still has these on the table. Also, you can get a real 60's meal too.

Being a poor kid growing up in rural Tn I did not see a jukebox until this friend of Dad's opened up a Dairy Dip on Hwy 70. When I was a 5th and 6th grader I was a car hop at the place.

Unfortunately, I told the owner that I loved having my own money to buy things I really wanted and she told Dad and he was so embarrassed that he made me quit.

One of the fun parts of the job was when I was not waiting on cars and tables, I would spend a quarter and play my favorite songs.

Thanks for taking me down memory lane.

There is a little restaurant on the levee in Cincinnati, Ohio that is a 1950s burger joint. The staff dance to 50s music and when you are seated, you are given a nickel for the jukebox.

When I was young, there was a jukebox on every table in a place near the high school. It was called the Shake N' Burger. It had red seats and a black and white tiled floor, much the same as the place in Cincinnati. The food there is good, so if you ever get a chance, stop by. It's right across the street from the aquarium.
